Emotional Guidance Scale - The path to awareness and joy
The Map of Consciousness was developed by Dr. David Hawkins (1927-2012) – who was an internationally renowned spiritual teacher and author. Dr. Hawkins theory and scientific findings drove him to author several books on how to address life’s challenges and the importance of including spiritual practices in one’s healing and recovery.
The Map of Consciousness was created due to Dr. Hawkins' findings that humans lack the ability to accurately measure personal healing, which affects not only mental health but bodily organs and muscles, causing physical illness. The Map ranges from low to high, the levels of consciousness as shame, guilt, apathy, grief, fear, desire, anger, pride, courage, neutrality, willingness, acceptance, reason, love, joy, peace, enlightenment.
The Emotional Guidance Scale is an abbreviated, user-friendly adaptation of Dr. Hawkins scale. The purpose of this scale is to help you track your healing levels – especially during the time of recovery. It is essential to understand that healing is NOT linear, so fluctuation is to be expected. Journal your levels and remain cognizant of your personal goals as you travel to the freedom side of abuse.
In applying Einstein’s theory that “We can never solve a problem with the same thinking that created the problem, to begin with,” I urge you to view yourself with love, think positively about your future and see your strength as a virtue.
THE EMOTIONS WE FEEL BECOME THE ENERGY WE EMIT
When we’re living in the energy of joy, we’re allowing ourselves to be Super Attractors. The closer we are to the emotion of joy, the more easily we attract what we want.
But what about when we’re really far from joy? When we feel desperate, fearful, or powerless we attract what we don’t want. In these situations, it’s not wise to try to leap up the emotional scale as fast as possible, because when you’re in a negative place, high-vibe thoughts won’t resonate and we usually regret decisions made when we are low on the scale, So instead of trying to leap through the scale, gently guide through it, taking one small step at a time.
How can you tell where you are on the scale?
Communication: “Are you constantly thinking and saying what you won’t or can’t do instead of focusing on positive resolutions?” Are you eager to express what you CAN do to find a compromise”? Are you waiting for others to tell you their wishes and needs so you can decide which you disagree with? Are others met with disdain when they express to you their thoughts and desires, only to be told by you that their wishes are absurd? Do you truly listen to the other with empathy and love in your heart?
Emotions: Do you spend more time on being offended by the actions of others or do you focus on the positive aspects of a situation or person/partner?
Respite: Do you find yourself looking for short-term relief, thinking that something external is the answer to moving up the emotional scale? Are these actions something you can share with those close to you?
If you find yourself lower on the scale, then perhaps it is time for you to make a conscious effort to move through the emotional scale so you can manifest a life filled with joy rather than resistance.
Spiritual Manifesting is the theory that through regular meditation and positive, constructive thought, you can make your dreams and desires become reality. Spiritual manifestation isn’t about getting; it’s about allowing. As soon as you let go of the control you become a magnet for what you desire.
The next time you notice yourself at the bottom of the emotional scale, gently practice reaching for better-feeling thoughts and emotions. Lean on loved ones for support. Feel each emotion, both good and not so good to remove it from your mind and your heart. Working through them means FEELING each emotion. If you are feeling anger, then get angry! Get it out and leave it behind you and move on to the next step. It is possible to move through your emotions to arrive at a higher level of consciousness. Imagine what it will be like when JOY is the way you live your life every day.
